The DTI curriculum is designed to support and enhance our core values of kindness, tolerance, respect, and excellence. It promotes a positive attitude towards learning and enables all learners to acquire relevant knowledge, understand concepts, and develop skills needed for life and the workplace.
The Commission for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (CTVET) is the regulator that issues certificates for courses such as Precision Welding and Fabrication, Design Innovation, and Entrepreneurship. DTI offers one-year learning programmes with an additional six-month industry attachment to provide Workplace Experience Learning. Upon successful completion of the 18-month course, learners receive a CTVET certificate and a DTI certificate that specifies the enrichment programmes and other successful projects completed. Graduates of DTI receive two certificates, including the CTVET certificate and the DTI Awarded Certificate in the Enrichment Programs.
DTI's teaching and learning approach is influenced by intentional methodologies, skills, and mindsets to achieve specific outcomes for learners' future work life. The approach emphasizes open-mindedness, social attunement, emotional intelligence, and competence. DTI integrates basic and enrichment programmes and focuses on workplace and transition to work disciplines, gender programming, entrepreneurship, and real-world and industry experiences.
DTI Welding and Fabrication programme provides a fast-track path to become a precision skilled welder, with completion of 18 units of study within 10 months, industry attachment for workplace experience, and competence in MIG, TIG, MMA, and oxyacetylene cutting and welding. The welding shop at DTI is spacious and equipped with modern equipment, and employment opportunities for trained welders are excellent in various industries. Learners are trained to use diverse modern welding equipment in different positions according to international standards.
